Bypassing Obstructing Components

Bypass means direction change to a route. Bypass creation involves ducts and elbows. The bypass components created will have end types inherited from parent duct. The obstructing elements could be any building object including mechanical ducts/pipes, structural column, beams etc., or even the MicroStation solid. The obstructing elements could be part of reference file.

Example illustrating duct bypassing pipe component, and a pipe bypassing duct

  1. Select the (Mechanical Bypass) tool. In the view select the mechanical fitting (e.g. duct arm or a pipe) in the route. Multiple components can be selected using the <Ctrl>+Drag.
  2. Accept the selection of bypass components. Followed by it, select the Obstruction. Multiple obstructing components can be selected.
  3. The Mechanical Bypass settings window opens. The default bypass settings populate, in context of how the obstructing component is placed in the model.
  4. (Optional) Alter the settings, for example if you want to change the direction, and/or alter elbow angle, etc. When done, accept the bypass by clicking in the view.
The set bypass is created around the selected obstructing components.

The Bypass tool creates a bypass around one or more obstructing elements. Bypass such as an angled duct bypass is created around vertical column obstruction.
